A Typical Day in the Life of a VisualSP Product Manager
You begin your day by going over all the usage data of VisualSP. With the key performance indicators that are already setup, you can see what our customers are doing, where they are succeeding and where they're struggling and need our help.
You dig in and evaluate the current status:
- Is there anything wrong and needs immediate attention? If yes, who do I need to reach out to? What do I need to do?
- Are there urgent tasks with big impact that need to be done? If yes, who do I need to get them done? Or do I need to do them myself?
Through the day, you have 2 to 3 customer meetings. Some meetings are because a customer needs guidance and support on best practices for using our product so you guide these customers with your deep rooted knowledge from working with similar customers. You onboard a new customer with pre-planned meetings such as our kickoff, content and deployment planning, performance review meetings, etc.
You participate in a daily standup along with sales, marketing, services and operations. You provide your status, discuss bottlenecks and where you need assistance from others on the team.
Once a month, you hold the customer roundtable. In the roundtable, you let our customers know the various business use cases we have worked on in the last month, present our short term and long term roadmaps, and listen to their issues, concerns and ideas.
You conduct a weekly product meeting where you lead the product team to ensure that our product vision is on track. You tweak the product roadmap as needed in conjunction with the product team so that we continue to strive towards achieving the product vision. You also discuss with the development team any immediate software bugs that need to be taken care of, ensure that the next software build will be going out on time and has been regression tested in the test environment.
You end the day with relaying your findings and thoughts to the other departments:
- You let the product team know if any product adjustments or features that need to be put on the roadmap or issues that need to be address
- You converse with the marketing and sales teams so they understand what is important to the customers in our current product features set and what messaging needs to be amplified
- You reach out to the CEO of VisualSP helping him continually understand how our VisualSP brand promise is delivering value to our customers and where there are gaps or areas of opportunity where we can serve our customers better in the future.
From time to time, other various tasks come up that the product manager needs to take care of.
The bottom line is that You as the Product Manager ensure that VisualSP customers are achieving their vision and goals through our product and services.
