I'm currently working on my Introduction to Dynamics 365 for the Microsoft 365 Guy \/ Gal<\/span> session that I will be presenting at the upcoming Microsoft 365 conference in April. While working on the presentation, I have been gathering visuals of how Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365 work together<\/span>.<\/p>\n

So I thought I would go ahead and share a sneak peek with you and show those visuals with a bit of explanation.<\/p>\n

Most of us have been either in the SharePoint & Teams camp<\/span> or the Dynamics 365 camp<\/span>. Being in either of these ecosystems, it's hard sometimes to visualize how the other ecosystem integrates and works with the one that you have known for so many years.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Microsoft is inching towards gathering all of these technologies under one ecosystem where you can collaborate, communicate and transact all of your business functions (CRM, ERP, etc.)<\/span> under one roof.<\/p>\n

At this session, I'll be talking about how all this affects us<\/span> and what can we do about it.<\/p>\n

Following are some of the visuals I'm incorporating in my presentation to make the integration points clear.<\/p>\n

Most of us are using Microsoft Teams just as much as we are using Outlook these days. The below image shows how if you are using Dynamics 365, the interface of Dynamics can be easily brought into Teams.<\/p>\n

Benefit: Most if not all of your CRM and ERP data<\/span> would be available directly within Teams.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dynamics 365 users are pretty devoted and live and breathe within their Dynamics environment. For those folks who would rather use the internet browser to interface with Dynamics (like most of us do), Microsoft decided to bring Teams chats and conversations directly within the Dynamics<\/span> interface as shown in the image below.<\/p>\n

Benefit: You don't have to switch to the Teams platform when you want to chat about a contact, company or deal with your colleagues. Teams comes to you instead of you going to Teams<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Since the early days of SharePoint, document management has been one of the strongest and most utilized feature of the SharePoint platform. When working with Dynamics, you eventually end up storing a bunch of associated records (files) for your contacts and accounts. The below image shows how you can show your files hosted in SharePoint directly within Dynamics<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Benefit: Store and access related SharePoint files without having to navigate away from Dynamics.<\/p>\n

Hopefully this gives you a quick snapshot of where Microsoft is headed with these technologies.<\/p>\n

Please remember that without proper user adoption, you will have the same issues<\/span> with these mechanisms as you have had in the past with other technology rollouts. That's why I mainly focus, along with our company VisualSP<\/a>, on assisting organizations around the world increase user adoption<\/a> while decreasing their support burden<\/span> as they roll out their systems.
