Team meeting conversation starters

How do we start 2022 with conversations that matter?

The question above was going through my mind as I started 2022. In addition to leading the team at VisualSP, I also lead a monthly Executives roundtable and a Digital Workspace Managers roundtable.

I didn't want to have the same boring questions in our kickoff meetings like:

  • How are you doing?
  • What's new?
  • What are your plans for 2022?

Most of us are a bit sick of these same old questions, aren't we...? It's better to ask more thoughtful and fresh questions that really get the group thinking in the right direction.

As I was thinking through this dilemma, I had a colleague of mine refer me to a post she found that had some great conversation starters. Thanks Pam .

I'm listing out some of the questions that I found to be the best ones to get the conversations going in the right direction. I'll be using some of these in our roundtables. Hopefully this can help you as well as you plan out your goals and kickoff meetings for 2022. Good luck!

  1. What are your highs/low from 2021?
  2. What is one book that you would recommend?
  3. What is the one website or app that you visit daily?
  4. What are your favorite sources of information for this group?
  5. What is the one thing that people consistently ask you for help with?
  6. What will be better in 2022 than it was in 2021? Why?
  7. Based on your experiences, what advice would you give to others joining this group for the first time?
  8. Who can you recognize or thank in this group?
  9. Who should be part of this group and isn't yet?
  10. What is one thing that others in the group can support you with in 2022?
